At HRMACSA, we are dedicated to creating a comprehensive support system for veterans and their families. Our vision is to establish a one-stop community center that addresses the diverse needs of those who have served our country and their loved ones. This center will provide:
- Educational Opportunities: Offering classes, workshops, and one-on-one tutoring to help veterans and their families achieve their academic and career goals.
- Food Pantry: Ensuring that no family goes hungry by providing access to nutritious food.
- Clothes Closet: Offering clothing for all ages and occasions, helping families dress with dignity.
- Laundry Facilities: Providing washers and dryers to ensure clean clothes for all.
- Resume and Job Assistance: Helping veterans and their families craft strong resumes, prepare for job interviews, and connect with employment opportunities.
- Referral Services: Connecting individuals with additional resources and services to meet their unique needs.
Who We Are
HRMAC San Antonio is an established 501 (c) (3) charitable organization providing services to veterans and their families dealing with homelessness, unemployment and assisting with transitional services, thereby improving their quality of life and future.
Founder, Jose Pablo Arzola
Jose‘s interest in community service developed very young; growing up in San Antonio’s Westside and Southside and watching his parent’s involvement in community and church activities. His interest in community peaked during his second tour of active Naval Service. During this tour of active duty, Jose was recognized for his community involvement by receiving numerous human rights awards.
When Jose retired, he immediately became active in his children’s education by joining the local PTA, band boosters, and athletics club. Jos remains active in his community by continuing his work in behalf of homeless veterans, disabled veterans and their families. Jose is married to Ms. Elida Trevino, of San Antonio, and have five children and 13 grandchildren.
Our History
Since 2003, HRMAC San Antonio has been assisting veterans by providing services to homeless and unemployed veterans. HRMAC San Antonio provides clothing as needed, offers resume preparation, interviews skills, job development, job referrals, and we recently added VA disability claims service and social services referral.
Our Projects
Forgotten Warriors Project
The Forgotten Warriors Project is a coalition of non-profit organizations addressing issues related to the VA’s disability claims processing, service delivery and service quality.
Disability Claims Training
HRMAC San Antonio volunteers have been trained to assist veterans with VA disability claims process. HRMAC San Antonio provides, by appointment assistance, with disability claims.
Annual Christmas Party
Since the 2012 holiday season, we served and celebrated the Christmas holidays with an estimated 170 families. HRMAC San Antonio would work throughout the year collecting monetary donations to offer our veterans a dinner and gift cards from HEB. Partnering up with HEB on this project allowed us to help out families affected by financial difficulties or homelessness. We would also accept toy donations to provide to all the children of the families that attended.
Homeless Veterans
HRMAC San Antonio partnered with Walmart and HEB who donated gift cards to help veterans that were facing homelessness be able to purchase groceries. To determine eligibility HRMAC San Antonio partnered with the Veteran’s Commission whom determined veterans in need. HRMAC San Antonio also partnered up with Trial Size Donations who donated toiletries that included toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, lotions and soap. HRMAC San Antonio also created a clothing closet that was fully supported by community donations and ran by volunteers.
